I once read the story of a man of God named John Scott, who once while preaching to a crowd in Sydney lost his voice. But he was still asked to continue with his preaching, as he was waiting in the side room, he whispered a request that the words of the ‘thorn in the flesh’ verses from 2 Corinthians 12 be read to him. The conversation between Jesus and Paul came alive.

Stott (Paul): ‘I beg you to take it away from me.’
Jesus: ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’
Stott (Paul): ‘I will all the more gladly boast of my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest upon me… for when I am weak, then I am strong.’

When the time came to speak he croaked the gospel through the microphone in a monotone, utterly unable to modulate his voice or exert his personality in any way. But all the time he was crying to the Lord to perfect Christ’s power through his weakness.

He went back to Australia many times after that, and on every occasion, somebody came up to him and said, ‘Do you remember that final service in the University Great Hall, when you had lost your voice? I came to Christ that night.’

Surrender your weakness to God and see how he turns that weakness of yours into the greatest strength.

Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 12:9 that-

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

Let me also share one more testimony of a little girl, she was a few years old and yet she couldn’t speak. Her parents worried about their child, for they thought she was almost mute. She was brought into the house of God so that the church Pastor could pray for that child. The very next the child started speaking, today she sings for the LORD in a very sweet voice.

What is your weakness today that you think of day and night? Are you ready to surrender your weakness to GOD?

Identify your weakness and know that this weakness is nothing for God, he can use it and make it your greatest strength.

I believe you must have heard the story of Nicholas James Vujicic, he was born with no arms and legs. If you have heard his testimony, you would know that he didn’t bury himself in self-pity. Today he is one of the best motivational speakers.

Today as you read this, if the Holy Spirit reminds you of your weakness, surrender that to God and see how he empowers you.
